Maryam Mills

Maryam Mills is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She is a certified Parenting Workshop Facilitator, Family Meditator (Justice Institute of BC), and Gottman Method Couples Therapist. Using cognitive behavioral therapy, sensorimotor, and mindfulness therapies, Maryam helps individuals, couples and families, dealing with grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders and addiction. Her training and experience from working with children with ADHD supports the whole family. Maryam helps with intense needs such as at-risk youth facing substance abuse, identity, self-harm, depression and trauma issues.

Providing her with advanced tools to better inform her trauma work, Maryam also has specialized training in sensorimotor concepts and techniques from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. Theoretically grounded in neuroscience and attachment research, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy includes the body in psychotherapy as both a source of information and target for intervention. A mindfulness-based approach is used to treat emotional and cognitive experiences that facilitates access to a deeper authentic experience. Maryam Mills’ work helps her clients develop long-term strategies to deal with obstacles, repair relationships and increase respect, intimacy, affection and connection.
